For Paul, salvation is obviously a great gift; Paul would not hesitate to speak of “Christ and his benefits.”5 But for Paul, the “benefits” of salvation are not something to be found at a distance, nor are they consigned only to the future (“heaven” or other eschatological rewards, including new creation).
